So, there was some teacher strike or something.. Good for me beacause my Host Mom had me stay home. I slept till like 9:30 and later on the neighbor came over with his friend. Around 1:30ish I was picked up for a Rotary lunch, it went well. I got home lime a 5 something.. I took a walk with my Host Mom and Leo, then went to the mall. We had to go talk to some guy about cellphones.. I can use my iPhone here if I have it unlocked and if I fix this one button.. I tried fixing the button, and it brought more problems.. Now, I cannot get the phone back together.. That phone just loves causes issues, trying to take it apart I cut both my thumbs! Well, I still have no phone, but soon. I ate dinner, attempted to fix it again, then passed out on my bed..

ReplyDeletehey, I don't know you, but I'm looking into doing a Foreign Exchange through Rotary and I really want to go to Spain. I've been talking to a lady from Rotary(Barbara Kochie)and she gave me the link to your blog and I've just been reading through it.
ReplyDeleteI have a few questions if you don't mind, like do they have a phys. ed. class in Spain? About how much is your trip costing you? Did you know any Spanish before leaving, and is it really hard to adjust to the language? And when you go to school, do you take your classes in Spanish or English-if in Spanish, is it really hard to understand what you're learning?
Sorry if I'm asking a lot haha, I really want to go and I want to get as much information as I can.
Thanks, and I hope you're having a great time!(:
p.s. My name's Anju and I'm currently a Sophomore in NJ (i'm not some random creeper haha)
Hola! Ask away! lol They have a p.e. class, but it is only twice a week. The cost really depends on you and your family. I buy any cloths, games, or anything like that. You will most probably pay for your own cell phone, or if you are lucky they will give you one, and perhaps they will pay. I did know a lot of Spanish before I came (I don't normally say that haha). As far as adjusting, it does take time due to dilects and slangs. You will be fine though, it does not take too long for the ear to adjust, just give it some time. All of my classes are in Spanish, except English which is in both. It is challenging to understand what is being said in class, due to the fact that the vocab is different and that you are dealing with native speakers.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
p.s. Where in N.J., if you don't mind me asking?
As far as classes and getting credit in the U.S., do you know if there's any way I could take a U.S. history I class there? My guidance counselor told me the classes I need to take to graduate if I go are art, p.e., U.S. history I, and English.
ReplyDeleteAlso, is the English class like grammar like we have here, or is it like a language class (like we take Spanish and whatnot here?
If anything my guidance counselor told me online courses are an option, but they're expensive so I'd rather take them regularly if they're available.
Thanks a bunch for answering my questions haha, and I'm from Brick in Ocean County [:
p.s. creeping through your blog you mentioned an iPhone- DON'T GET THE NEW ONE. I'd love to know whose brilliant idea it was to make it out of glass, because mine slid out of my lap the other day and the back shattered ): so yeah. just thought I'd share that with you haha
I doubt you will be able to take a U.S. history class here, but you will have to see what your school offers. I think the English class here focuses more on grammar, but you get a bit of it all in a different way. You will most likely be ablt to get everything but the history class.. I suppose you could try making it up when you get back, skip your lunch, or take a summer school course. Though, like I said, I could be wrong.
ReplyDeleteWow, you are close, I live in Waretown.
That's a shame, iPhones a GREAT normally.. I'm going to wait till I come home, maybe they will change the design or something by then.
Haha, I had the original iPhone and i LOVED that thing. I probably could've chucked it against a wall and it would've worked fine.
ReplyDeleteHmm. I'll talk to my guidance counselor about lunch or summer school for History, but I know I can't make it up when I get back Senior year because she told me there's no way to rearrange that year (I go to MATES in Manahawkin). We pass the Waretown exit every day! :P
Anyway, thanks for your answers, I'll bug you again when I have more questions lol. (:
I had a newer iPhone, and it WAS great haha. Hmmm... You'll figure something out. My friend goes to MATES, Jordyn, you probably know her seeing that you are in the same grade. Not a problem, I'll be here!
